My best Quito Attractions

Quito is the state capital of Ecuador and is home to numerous tourist attractions. Located in the southwestern region of South America and near the Guayllabamba Basin, Quito is supposedly the second most populist city in Ecuador. Quito Ecuador travel is a highlight of South America and is considered a necessity for the visiting tourists.

The Historic Center

Quito is home to the largest historical center in the world. Spread over an area of about three hundred and twenty acres, the well preserved historic center has now been declared a world heritage site. Often considered one of the prime Quito attractions, the historic center has been preserved owing to the rich and poor divide. While the rich moved away, the poor had no option but to remain where they were and this allowed the area to remain untouched by external agencies. Quito Ecuador travels to the historic center would allow you to visit over forty churches, some of which include, the Cathedral of Quito and the Church and Convent of St. Frances.

El Panecillo

The hill of El Pancillo is an essential part of Ecuador attractions and is often considered historic owing to the presence of the statue Virgin Mary. The statue, which was inaugurated by the archbishop of Quito, stands on a globe and is said to be on top of a chained crocodile, which in turn is symbolic to the victory of good over evil. The Quito School of Art has been inspired by this statue and is said to be an eminent part of Quito Ecuador attractions.

The Metropolitan Park

This is the largest park in Quito and is spread over an area of five and a half kilometers. It is also supposedly the largest park in South America and is ideal for jogging, biking and running. The park has four main entrances and is considered one of the major Quito attractions. Here, you have the option of picnicking and barbequing besides taking a closer look at the adjoining river basin.

The TeleferiQo Arial Tramway

Considered one of the most viewed Ecuador attractions, this aerial tramway allows tourists to visit the nearby hill called Cruz Loma. Located on the eastern side of the Pichincha volcanoes, the tram takes the tourists to a height of over thirteen and a half thousand feet to a place which is home to numerous restaurants, volcanoes and coffee shops. Considered one of the most prominent Quito Attractions and my personal favorite, the Ariel tram allows passengers to enjoy a cool and peaceful weather as the height drives the pollution away and encourages cool and healthy wind.

La Mitad del Mundo-In The Middle Of The World

The name La Mitad del Mundo stands for ‘in the middle of the world’ and is supposedly a small village which is located a few miles from the city of Quito. One of my favorite Quito attractions, the site was built on the land which was bisected by the equator. The place also consists of a museum, various eateries and has provisions for a regular dose of cultural folk performances. It has a special chapel, wherein one of the couple stands on the southern hemisphere while the other occupies the northern hemisphere.

The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve

One of my other favorite Ecuador attractions includes the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve which is supposedly a few miles from the capital city. The site is home to the world famous Pululahua volcano and can be accessed through the means of a personalized transportation facility. The volcano is one amongst the few which is stated to house inhabitants despite being an active volcano.
